Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy assessments are our most common service. The initial consultation will include a detailed discussion about your pain/injury. This is known as the subjective assessment.

This will allow the physiotherapist to decipher the possible source and causes of your pain and how it affects your daily life. This action will also allow us to talk about your current and short-term activity levels to get you back to what you want to do.

Following this, a detailed physical assessment will be performed. Mainly focusing on the area of pain but also looking at other regions of the body that may be contributing to your injury.

Numerous tests will be performed to examine the range of movement, muscular strength, functional movement patterns, and neurological tests when indicated.

After all the above, a discussion will occur concerning your clinical diagnosis. The physiotherapist will precisely outline the source of your pain and explain the contributing factors.

You will also have a chance to ask any questions you may have. A tailored treatment plan will be discussed as to how you will return to normal activities and function pain-free.

Treatment will vary depending on the injury, but standard treatment options include;

  • Manual Therapy (consisting of hands-on treatment).
  • Exercise rehabilitation in the clinic and exercise prescription for home.
  • Dry Needling.
  • Education.
  • Activity Modification and lifestyle contributing factors.
  • Onward Referral (If following examination, an onward referral is deemed      necessary for an orthopaedic consultant, sports medicine physician, medical imaging or an appointment with your GP, this will be organised for you).
